Something is stirring in Haarlem. It goes beyond the monumental buildings, the trendy venues, exclusive boutiques and the cosy terraces at the Market Square. We are proud of our heritage, because the capital of the province of Noord-Holland feels more urban than ever. New initiatives come to life, talents are given room for development and old venues are redeveloped to make them more accessible to the business sector. Meanwhile, interesting new coproductions and synergies between venues and suppliers keep emerging. And Haarlem Convention Bureau is in itself a great example of that, because thinking as a collective puts everyone ahead!
As far back as the tenth century, Haarlem was first registered in an inventory of all church possessions in the Netherlands. The town of Haralem was filed herein with three farmsteads. Ever since, Haarlem is known as the ‘City of Painters’, Spaarne city (named after the Spaarne river), Textile city or City of Writers. It’s a place of inspiration that expresses many different ways of being, identities and visions. The city’s inhabitants mostly work in the service economy, such as business or industry services and hospitality, which means there’s no shortage of a decent service and entrepreneurial mentality. It simply runs through our veins.
The world is changing at rapid speed and these developments are expressed in full and free creativity at the locations and events of Haarlem. There is modern architecture as well as the oldest museum of the Netherlands, old churches that harbour dark stories or private buildings made available at request. Have a bike trip and navigate Spaarne river, or fully focus on a seminar or gathering? Walk along the broad sand beach, or stroll across town squares until you’re surprised by a wine tasting in the heart of the city? Everything is possible in Haarlem and we as a collective are proof of that. The many diverse partners of Haarlem Convention Bureau are ready to host your memorable event in the most beautiful city of the Netherlands!
The vibrancy of Haarlem knows no borders and engulfs the whole city. As hypes come and go, many companies –including many health care and service providers –find a home in the local district. The city has an unrivalled attractive force, on both national and international scale. With a total capacity of 1,700 rooms across the many different hotels, organizing an event, congress or incentive is extra attractive in this city on the Spaarne river. It has something to offer to anyone, be it a large and flexible location or intimate and traditional Dutch cosiness. Haarlem offers hotels, churches, restaurants, congress locations, museums, and venues near or even on the water. The environment stimulates all the senses, at a destination that will arouse and surprise tourists, consumers and business visitors alike. And the same goes for the creative and playful alternatives offered by the meeting and events sector!
